Long lasting pain: Challenge accepted!

Once upon a time there were a Lithuanian businesswoman, Akvile, an Italian engineer, Giampaolo, a Canadian/Swedish medical doctor, Jenny, and an industrial designer, Raoul from The Netherlands, who joined their forces few weeks ago and created team Rehab after an intensive boot camp in Lidingö. The week after, the team joined the Highly Specialized Pain Rehabilitation Clinic at Danderyd University Hospital and started the observation phase of the Clinical Innovation Fellowship.

Team Rehab and the Highly Specialized Pain Rehabilitation Clinic are facing one of the greatest challenges: the relief of long lasting pain.

Pain is one of the most common reason a patient sees a doctor. Most of the time, pain doesn’t last long and is quickly forgotten. Unfortunately, for some patients the pain does not pass. Their body keeps hurting weeks, months, or even years.

In the clinic, a team of physicians, nurses, physiotherapists, psychologists, social workers and occupational therapists provides individual and group treatment that targets the multiple needs of those with long lasting pain. By combining several disciplines, the rehab program provides coping strategies to ensure that pain does not take over a person’s life.

After getting familiar with the complexity of the chronic pain and the clinic routines, team Rehab successfully started the observation phase. The team follows the different professional figures, takes part of the group activities and when possible chats with the patients to better understand their daily needs.

Team Rehab has accepted the challenge!

Stay tuned!
