PHASE 0

Boot Camp

First two weeks of the Clinical Innovation Fellowship Program

High tempo crash-course in:

  • Healthcare focus area, specific to each team
  • Need-driven innovation
  • Lean start-up
  • Rapid prototyping
  • Business development
  • Team building
  • Planning the Fellowship

Goal

  • Strong and entrepreneurial teams with clear focus and high commitment 

PHASE 1

Need finding (Clinical Immersion)

Six-eight weeks full-time clinical immersion in health care

  • Full-time at hospitals, elderly care and/or health centers
  • All needs observed are documented
  • Needs can be small and trivial
  • Needs can med large and systemic

Goal

  • Minimum 400 well documented needs
  • Interviews with patients, health care professionals and other stakeholders
  • Feedback to host clinic

PHASE 2

Need validation

Two months for need analysis and screening

  • The 400 needs from the clinic immersion are analyzed
  • Root conflict analysis
  • Solubility estimation
  • Need portfolio assessment
  • Stakeholder mapping

Goal

  • Shortlisting of 20 validated needs
  • Needs with high technical probability of success
  • Needs with high commercial probability of success

PHASE 3

Concept generation and screening

Two months solution development in collaboration with RISE experts.

Starting with ~20 needs of high commercial potential:

  • Literature studies
  • IPR Landscaping
  • Creative ideation workshops
  • Open Innovation
  • Design thinking
  • Rapid prototyping

Goal

  • Minimum viable prototype solving commercially important health related needs in a technically feasible way to an acceptable cost   

PHASE 4

One month business model validation

The product:

  • Does the prototype work?
  • Are there competitive solutions, and what is the unique selling point?
  • What will the cost and price be?
  • The business model:
  • Is anyone ready to pay for a solution?
  • What are the public innovation procurement issues?
  • Can it scale globally?

Goal

One validated prototype with a scalable business model, delivering true value to the health sector
